Increasing capacity at Scotstoun stadium
Established in 1872, Glasgow Warriors has grown significantly over the years, transforming into one of Europe’s premier professional rugby clubs.

In 2012, the Warriors made Scotstoun Stadium their home, marking a pivotal moment in the club’s history, coinciding with its most successful era. This period witnessed the club’s first-ever domestic league title and two Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final appearances.
Requirements
With an average attendance of over 7000 visitors per game, the necessity to increase the overall capacity within the Stadium during the season is always a top priority. GL events Seating & Stadia, was called in to install an additional 2,500 covered and uncovered seats, split across the three additional grandstands.
Hurdles
Encountering a series of challenges during the project’s initial phase, including changing suppliers, tight timelines and more, Glasgow Warriors sought the expertise of GL events Seating & Stadia to provide a robust seating and stand solution.
Due to the stadium’s shared use as an athletics stadium which includes a running track, our CAD designers ensured that the stands at the outer pitch level did not create an obstruction. This was also necessary to comply with safety regulations and ensure unrestricted access to the stands.
Finishing Line
Completed in just two weeks, the speed at which the project was turned around is a testament to the hard-work and dedication of both parties involved.
