Development of the County Ground, Beckenham

Overview

Kent County Cricket Club had existing temporary seating that was removed and replaced with a brand new 2,600-seater permanent grandstand. This was part of its redevelopment programme to develop its reach within Greater London.

Key requirements

The club required a new stand to comply with local authority planning requirements and address the need to follow the curvature of the cricket pitch at the Beckenham ground, while also giving spectators an optimum viewing experience.

Coordinating colours

The new stand was kitted out with beautiful green general admission seats that blended into the scenic setting of the outfield. Set into a concrete structure, the stylish timber cladding to the rear and side elevated the natural aesthetic.

Running parallel with the curvature of the pitch, this spectator stand resembles an ampitheatre that perfectly suited to cricket. Internally, the club gained improved toilet facilities and roller shutter entrances. The project took just five months to complete.
