Our team installed a traditional stand structure for 3,000 spectators, along with pre-cast concrete terracing, spectator concessions, club offices, and a variety of other essential facilities. Challenges and Phased Approach
One of the major challenges with this project was ensuring the club’s operations remained unaffected during construction. The existing changing rooms and physiotherapy rooms had to stay in use, so we developed a phased demolition and construction plan. This allowed us to complete 50% of the stand before demolishing the remaining half, keeping the stadium functional throughout. It was crucial to balance the club’s business needs with the construction process, and we successfully managed this to avoid disruption.
Innovative Solutions for Space Efficiency
The corner between the East and North stands posed another challenge: how to maximise space in an otherwise unused area. In response, we installed 400 additional seats in this triangular void. This custom solution not only improved the stadium’s capacity but also provided better access to hospitality areas, demonstrating our expertise in space-efficient design and innovative thinking.
Collaboration with Watford FC
Throughout the project, we worked closely with Watford FC, particularly with Glyn Evens, the Operations Director at the time. Thanks to our strong communication and collaborative approach, we managed to complete the redevelopment on time and within budget. This close working relationship ensured that the phased construction went smoothly, and the club’s operations were never disrupted.
