The ambitious redevelopment plans for the Mayflower Stand continue to progress, under the leadership of Stadia by GL events, who serves as the principle contractor in charge of the stadium construction project.
In 2018 the old Mayflower stand at Plymouth Argyle Football Club was demolished and works continue to create the new and improved stadium.
A club spokesperson explained: “The renovation of the grandstand was driven by a need to upgrade facilities for our loyal fans throughout, providing a contemporary facility, of which we could make full commercial use on non-matchdays, as well as during football matches. During the initial survey work, the condition of the roof was found to be poorer than anticipated, which led to a much fuller redevelopment of the Archibald Leitch-designed building.”
Planned works include a changing room and toilets, club shop and concessions, conferencing and banqueting, a PA and CCTV system, plus other improvements.
When the project is complete there will be 5,200 new seats in the club’s emerald green colours, bringing overall capacity at the all-seater stadium to more than 18,200.

Alongside the work on the Mayflower Stand, the team at Stadia by GL events will also create a new clubhouse for members of the Green Taverners – the supporters of Plymouth Argyle Football Club.
The work is scheduled for completion in 2019 and promises to be one of Stadia by GL events’ shining examples of its growing stadium construction portfolio.
